ASSORTED LAPTOPS

Does your Dell Laptop pointer drift? I recently acquired a used Dell C840 for my son. 30GB hard drive, 512mb RAM, and a bright screen. Considering I bought it for $300 (even with the bad battery), I was pretty satisfied. It was going to be used as an at-home pc, plugged into the wall and connected to the internet through our wireless router.

Shortly after the purchase I noticed the pointer arrow would wander and drift. The pointer often would disappear in a corner. The stick and mouse eventually did little to return functionality. Having seen some drastic remedies (like cutting wires to the stick!) I was determined to find an alternative method of repairing the drifting pointer.

It was much simpler than I anticipated. It turns out to be a driver issue that is notorious with all C class Dell laptops produced. For an easy repair, go to the Dell Support Website, place the data in the appropriate boxes for your computer and download the driver (most likely "Alps"). A simple fix. The come back and visit our store!
